 About this event

How Can Participatory Science Bring New Solutions to Ecosystem Restoration?

Participatory Sciences, including Civic Science, Citizen Science and Community Science involve communities co-producing new knowledge about the places where they live and work.

The Scottish Land Fund has awarded the Langholm Initiative charity £1 million in a “major game-changer” for South Scotland’s biggest ever community buyout.

The town of Langholm in Dumfries and Galloway aims to raise £2.2m by July to purchase 5,300 acres of Langholm Moor from Buccleuch, and so double the size of the new community-owned Tarras Valley Nature Reserve.

Queer Families Rural Get Together

Queer Families is a peer support group for LGBTQ families. It is a safe space for LGBTQ families to come together and share experiences, do fun activities, and meet other parents.

This is an online event for LGBTQ families in rural areas to discuss your experiences, find out what gaps are in your area and how we can fill them, and share learning from people in different areas.

If you have any access requirements or want any more information, please email ciara@otbds.org

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and other businesses will be given new opportunities to allow them to raise finance by securing funds against largely untapped assets like vehicles, plant and machinery or whisky stores through The Moveable Transactions (Scotland) Bill

A new net zero transition fund to support the North East economy will open on 31st May for expressions of interest.

SRITC Open Cafe & Chat

With no fixed agenda and no presentations, the SRITC Open Cafes are an opportunity to just turn up and chat about whatever rural mobility issues and ideas are on your mind.

From a social standpoint, the cafes are a chance to catch up with old friends and make some new ones as well.
