Forestry and woodlands

As part of an ongoing programme of work to promote woodland creation in the Central Scotland Green Network (CSGN) area, Central Scotland Green Network Trust, on behalf of Forestry Commission Scotland, are offering a limited quantity of free Farm Woodland Assessments to landowners in the Central Scotland Green Network Area (covering the Central Belt, across to East Lothian,  up into West Fife, parts of Stirling and Ayrshire-see attached map) to help farms and estates identify opportunities for new and existing woodland to support their farm businesses.

The Annual Implementation Report (AIR) of the Scottish Rural Development Programme (SRDP) has been published.

Covering the first three years of the 2014-2020 Programme, the full report and Summary for Citizens can be viewed on the Scottish Government website.

A new brochure highlights all the Horizon 2020 calls relating to agriculture and forestry.

The official Horizon 2020 Work Programme for 2018-2020 was released on 27 October 2017.

Horizon 2020 (H2020) aims to create solutions for problems which farmers and foresters currently face. It is the largest source of public funding for research and innovation from the European Commission with a budget of around €3.7 billion.

The Scottish Sikh community and Trees for Life have worked together to create a lifelong memorial for victims and survivors of the 1984 Sikh Massacre.

WoodWorks Enterprise Taster Event

There is a great opportunity coming up for young folk in Scotland, with particular emphasis on Fife, though all are welcome.  This is a chance for young people who are interested in or have made a start establishing a woodland based business to come along and find out about the support that the WoodWorks  programme could offer.  

Inspired by the Scottish Crofting Federation, a group of Scottish smallholders has set up a new organisation to represent and support their community.

A new funding round for the Agri-Environmental Climate Scheme (AECS) has been announced by Environment Secretary Roseanna Cunningham at the Royal Highland Show.

Agri-Environment, Diffuse Pollution and Organic schemes will open in January 2018, with a round for Improving Public Access expected to open in March.
