Dornoch FibreFest

This year celebrates the ninth festival of fibre and woolen crafts, with Masterclasses in weaving and botanical printing.  For the first time, the event has also expanded into Dornoch Cathedral where throughout the weekend (after midday on Sunday) there is a Quilt Display by "Off the Wall", Scottish Textile Artists. 

Rural Wisdom Get-together

The Rural Wisdom project is exploring ways to make rural areas better for older people. They're holding a series of events across Scotland for anyone who is interested in this work to come together, to share thoughts, to hear from others and to build the Rural Wisdom network across the country.

Karina Ross from Dementia Friendly Communities Ltd in Helmsdale will  share how they support people with dementia to live well in their rural community. We’ll hear about circles of care and how technology is being used to help connect those living in the most remote areas.

EUROPARC Conference 2018 - Registration now open

The theme for this event will be ‘European Parks: Inspired by the Next Generation’ will focus on what Parks can learn from young people and what changes need to be made to manage protected areas for future generations. Matching the ‘Year of Young People’ designated in Scotland for 2018, the conference will call for young people to be more involved in decision making, volunteering, working and living in Parks.

Access to Crofting Toolkit - Strathpeffer

Weekend course aimed at new entrants, people who wish to enter crofting or those looking to find out whether crofting is right for them. 5 modules led by industry experts and peer to peer support.

Pre-Lambing Course Gairloch

Aimed at all keepers of sheep, or those who are looking to keep sheep in the future. FREE places for those aged 16 - 25 enrolment essential training@crofting.org

Introduction to Beekeeping Gairloch

This one day classroom based course will set up participants with all they need to know to set up in beekeeping from health and welfare, husbandry, legal issues and compliance. There will be a chance to handle equipment and taste some local honeys.

Sheep Handling Demo and Talk

Sally Wild of the Shetland Sheep Society and tutor Brian Denoon will be on hand to demo sheep handling skills and discuss tips for setting up a fank and relative costs and advantages. This event is FREE to those attending the Shetland Sheep society event and is part funded by the Scottish Government Knowledge Transfer and Innovation Fund (KTIF).
