News from Local Governance Review team

In this article the Local Governance Review team share information about their Regional Deliberation Events.

Join the Local Governance Review team for the latest in their programme of events across the country

Since May this year the organisations behind the Local Governance Review have been encouraging community groups to hold Democracy Matters conversations with communities of place and interest across the country. The ideas generated through these conversations are being gathered and will ensure that the outcomes of the review focus on what local people have identified.

To round off this engagement phase we will be holding a series of regional events to bring together those who have already had Democracy Matters conversations and others who have not yet had the chance to reflect together on the emerging themes, and what these tell us about what needs to happen next.

What is the Local Governance Review?

Scottish Government and COSLA jointly launched the Local Governance Review to consider how powers, responsibilities and resources are shared across national and local government and with communities. The aim is to strengthen local democracy to improve outcomes in local communities, grow Scotland’s economy for everyone’s benefit, and ensure local communities have more say about how public services in their area are run.

We want to hear from you

We are inviting you to have your say on the themes and issues that have arisen from Democracy Matters conversations that have been happening across the country.

Find out more about the Local Governance Review & Democracy Matters Conversations, meet the team and discuss your views and ideas about how we can bring decision making to a community level. These are free informal workshop style events.
