Summary of Project

To develop a tourism-focused rural development project that will develop, implement and record a range of approaches to assist communities (area- or interest-based) to discover, gather, interpret, present and record their own story, using local poets – who have told the local, national and European story – as an inspiration and guide.

More information

1) Story House – to develop a model of good practice building on the experience and expertise of relevant existing and emerging initiatives (e.g. Robert Burns Birthplace Museum, Aryshie, Scotland; Scartaglen, Kerry, Ireland; etc).

2) Training – to design and implement a comprehensive training course aimed at as wide a group as possible, to enable communities in all aspects of storytelling, building on available experiences (e.g. Knockalugga, Rambling House, Kerry; Mary Immaculate Training College, Limerick; etc)

3) Son et Lumiere (sound and light) – to explore and determine the viability of designing and implementing a good practice model of interpreting and telling the story utilising the format of a sound and light show, which is a form of (usually) night-time entertainment to dramatize the (hi)story of a place (e.g. Châteaux in Loire Valley, France, etc).
