The Scottish Government is committed to realising our Vision for Agriculture and transforming how we support farming and food production in Scotland to become a global leader in sustainable and regenerative agriculture.

To support this a series of consultation events are being held to help inform the development of a new Agriculture bill.

This workshop will focus on the themes of Rural Development and Forestry, which form part of the new Agriculture Bill. It is vital that stakeholders involved in these sectors have an opportunity to imput their views on how the bill is developed to maximsie delivery of future support to these sectors.

The event will look at what Powers are needed to deliver and support Rural Development outcomes and:

  • What Duties on public sector are required – i.e. what must they do to ensure the tools are there in legislation to develop our rural economy and communities through an agricultural lens
  • The focus and scope is about Agriculture and how, within that Bill and Framework, we deliver beyond Agriculture alone
  • What are the enablers and levers that are needed within the Bill for wider Rural Development

This event will be of interest to those involved in Community Led Local Development and LEADER legacy.
