Funding

Two projects about sports and enjoying the outdoors are the latest to benefit from funding from the Cairngorms LEADER programme.

A total of £106,913.20 has been awarded to the Kingussie 2017 project for major improvements to the facilities at Kingussie Shinty Club. Facilities at the pitch will be upgraded to the standard expected of a 21st century modern day sports club and to a high enough standard that in the future Kingussie could apply to host major occasions such as National Shinty Finals and International matches.

Scotland’s First Oil Rush

Scattered across the landscape of West Lothian is evidence of the Shale Oil industry, a physical reminder of the industry that very much shaped the area. This fascinating heritage was captured in a film, first broadcast on BBC2 in May 2016, and the Heritage Lottery Fund are now offering the local community the chance to watch it again at a special screening.

Find out more about the industry, your community’s Shale connections, hear from local experts on the history of the oil, and discover how you can access funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund to run your own project.

Two projects have been awarded funding by the Orkney Fisheries Local Action Group.

A total of just over £179,000 has been awarded to the projects by the FLAG, which is responsible for administering the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund and the Scottish Government.

The Orkney Shellfish Research Project, being run by Orkney Sustainable Fisheries, will see the continued development of locally led fishery research work through the employment of full-time marine scientists with fishermen at the centre of the process.

The Scottish Government has announced that European Union (EU) funding contracts for farming, fisheries and structural funds projects that are agreed before the UK proposes to leave the EU will be paid in full.

Finance Secretary Derek Mackay has announced that he will be passing on, in full, the EU funding guarantees that have been offered by the UK Government, providing certainty for over £700 million of EU funding for Scotland.
