Dornoch Whisky Festival 2016

Now in its second year, Dornoch's annual Whisky Festival includes a tasting with legendary Charles Maclean, as well as tours of Glenmorangie, Glen Ord, Balblair, Clynelish and Teaninich distilleries.

Central to the Dornoch Whisky Festival is the Gala Tasting held in the world renowned Castle Hotel. Featuring local distillers such as Balblair, Clynelish, The Dalmore, Glenmorangie, Glen Ord, Old Pulteney, Wolfburn & The Dornoch Distillery as well as Gordon & McPhail, Ben Nevis and Douglas Laing.

Skye: Lambing Course

A practical course that will look into all aspects of lambing including:

Preparation for Lambing including ewe nutrition; Lambing Management including disease prevention and control; The mothering ewe including condition scoring; Practical Session including medication administration.

Wellies and Waterproofs essential!

Skye: Access to Crofting Toolkit Course

An introduction to Scottish agriculture directly related to crofters and smallholders. Peer to peer support and a face-to-face training event with industry experts to give you a step up to starting out in crofting, taking on a croft or to update your knowledge and develop your crofting business.
(Limited fully funded places available for anyone aged 16-25.)

The Woodland Trust Scotland, in association with the Simwood Project and Forest Enterprise Scotland invite you to a free demonstration event to discuss ancient woodland restoration in practice in Scotland, and to see a wide range of low impact solutions for management.

Join Trees for Life for a free family fun day in Glen Affric to discover nature’s delights! 

Find out what species they have recorded in the previous day's BioBlitz and take part in fun activities including:

  • Making a mini nature reserve 
  • The big bug hunt 
  • Guided walks 
  • Spot the species 
  • Tree tales - storytelling with Claire Hewitt 

Everyone is welcome to call in at The Quarry car park near the end of Loch Beinn a’Mheadhoin, and to join in the free activities.

Donegal to Dornoch - now in its third year! Tickets are now on sale for this year's event! Bands included are: The Davitts, The 4 Bees, David Allen, Ceilidh Cowboys, Blue Ridge and Caroline Mackenzie Macdonald

Dornoch Festival Week

The week comprises a wide variety of events and fund raising activities, from football and dances to pet shows! It is an excellent family event.

Monday 8th August: Pet Show at Meadows Park, 10:30am; Indoor Bowling at the Dornoch Social Club, 1:30pm; Family Bingo at The Marquee, 2:30pm; Crowning of the Princess, Prince & Attendant at The Marquee, 6pm; Car Treasure Hunt at The Marquee, 6:30pm.

The Manifesto will be a statement of collective ambitions and the actions that are needed to ensure these ambitions are realised for all of our rural communities.
