How would you reimagine life, the future for Scotland, and for our planet? If you have any stories to tell, then why not share them in a 90-second film!

Climate Challenge: 1.5 Degrees Films invites people to make 90-second films to share their thoughts and ideas about climate change and how it is affecting us as individuals, our surroundings, families and communities. Youth groups, schools, community organisations, activist groups and individuals are all encouraged to take part. Regardless of background, age or filmmaking experience, anyone can submit a film to the Challenge and there are some great resources available online to help people get started. The early deadline for film submissions is midnight on 24th October 2021.

Groups and organisations, such as Community Groups, Youth Groups, Environmental Groups, Activist Groups and Arts Groups, can register for free online workshops where a group representative will receive accessible and practical filmmaking and climate literacy training. The classes - delivered online - run for two hours a week over 6 weeks and participants can apply for a bursary to attend if classes are outside working hours or they are a volunteer.

All eligible films submitted to the Challenge will be made available for viewing on Film Access Scotland’s website, providing a platform for sharing views on climate change. Submissions from young people aged between 16 and 25 years will automatically be entered into Film Access Scotland’s Youth Film Festival in November 2021. Films may also be screened at fringe events in Glasgow in and around COP26 and at events to celebrate the Challenge planned after COP26. There will be commendations and prizes for filmmakers based in Scotland.

The Challenge is led by Film Access Scotland and supported by the National Lottery through Screen Scotland and by Keep Scotland Beautiful.
