Events are being held across the country as part of Cyber Scotland Week 2019 from 22 to 28 April.

Cyber Scotland Week is a Scottish Government and ScotlandIS initiative to raise awareness of the importance of cyber resilience to our citizens, businesses and charities, with a host of partner events taking place.

Cyber resilience means being able to prepare for, withstand, rapidly recover and learn from deliberate attacks in the digital world.

Events include:

  • Cyber Security Lunchtime Talk - University of St Andrews - 24 April
  • Cyber Crime Awareness in Orkney - NorthLink Ferries and Police Scotland - 25 April
  • Forth Valley Cyber Resilience: Why it Should Matter to the Third Sector - 26 April

Visit the Cyber Scotland Week website to find out about these events and more taking place.

Resources available online

And you don't have to take part in an event to get involved and improve your cyber resilience. You will find a range of resources on the Cyber Scotland Week website including a training guide developed by the Scottish Government to help organisations get started in teaching everyone the cyber fundamentals and free online cyber security interactive lessons and toolkits from Skills Development Scotland.

Funding available to help charities improve cyber resilience

The Scottish Government have provided a £500,000 fund to help charities and small to medium-sized businesses to further improve their cyber security. If you are a charity, you may wish to apply for the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations grants programme to enable your organisation to achieve Cyber Essentials accreditation.

With the support of the Scottish Government, SCVO are providing a small grants scheme to enable third sector organisations to achieve Cyber Essentials accreditation. Please note that this grant covers the technical work and review needed to attain cyber essentials accreditation, and is not applicable to staff training or awareness.

The deadline for the current funding round is Friday 3 May at 5pm. Visit the SCVO website to find out more
