Lynn Haughton from the Scottish Rural Network Support Unit tells us about a recent Cooperation Cafe event in this report.

On 5 October 2017, Scottish Local Action Group (LAG) representatives attended a Cooperation Café held at the Gleddoch House Hotel, Port Glasgow, Renfrewshire to develop ideas of how to cooperate with each other.

The session was designed and facilitated  by the Scottish Rural Network. The main aims were to:

  • strengthen relationships between LAG areas
  • provide a space where LAGs can begin to initiate and design cooperation projects
  • match potential projects and partnerships

The attendees enthusiastically participated in the workshop as they were led through a series of discussion rounds to develop seven ideas into potential cooperation projects around the following subjects:

  • Route Map Scottish Good Food and Drink
  • Textile Heritage Trail
  • Roman Central Scotland
  • Community Transport
  • Reviving Scotland’s Pilgrimage Heritage
  • Crowdfunding
  • Young People/Youth LAG

The event concluded with a discussion to agree the next steps for the potential cooperation projects. Hopefully we will see some of the ideas discussed on the day turned into concrete projects and the Scottish Rural Network will work closely with each LAG to offer assistance where required.

Thank you to Greater Renfrewshire LAG for offering to host and for all their assistance throughout the organisation of the event.
