A Zero Waste Scotland fund to support communications on litter prevention will close for applications on 18 December 2015.

The Litter Communications Capital Grant Programme is available to cover the capital costs for producing materials based on Zero Waste Scotland's new litter prevention communications toolkit.

As litter is experienced across Scotland and impacts on a wide range of different organisations and communities, this grant funding is open to all sectors and areas of the country.

Zero Waste Scotland conducted research which suggests littering behaviour is affected by a number of factors including location, amenity, time of day, social situation, audience and perception of individual litter types.

A series of context-specific communication materials have therefore been developed, based on available evidence and consumer testing, that target audiences in different contexts to encourage behaviour change. The different contexts include beaches, town centres, residential areas, transport, parks and gardens, schools, and sporting facilities.

This grant scheme is intended to facilitate the quick uptake and dissemination of these messages and materials throughout the country by providing funding for production of materials.

The final deadline for applications will be 5pm on Friday 18th December 2015, although you may submit your application sooner so that it can be checked for compliance.

Visit the Zero Waste Scotland website for full information and how to apply.
