The first ever Island Innovation Awards have been launched to recognise individuals, organisations and technologies driving positive change for remote and island communities globally.

Launched in partnership with the Clinton Global Initiative, the awards will be judged by a high profile jury. The focus of the awards will be on sharing the how of success from the winners, so other communities may benefit.

There are no economic or geographic restrictions, and individuals across remote, rural and island communities have the opportunity to apply. Most importantly, this is the chance to recognize the #UnsungHeroes in YOUR community. You can nominate an island ambassador, a work colleague, or even your neighbour, if they fit one of the categories!

There are 12 award categories, with awards for individuals, projects and organisations.

Nominations close on November 5th, and the next step is that the applications will be reviewed by the jury to be shortlisted. The finalists for each category will be announced on December 2nd, and the Awards Ceremony will reveal the winners on December 8th.
