LEADER Projects respond to COVID-19

Rural Perth & Kinross LEADER have produced a newsletter which highlights how some of their projects are responding to Covid-19.

A rural Perth and Kinross spokesperson said, "The key aim of LEADER is to support individuals, organisations and communities to be stronger, more confident and inclusive to lead or contribute to local economic and community development. We have been blown away by the resilience and innovation shown by the projects we support in response to the current COVID-19 crisis, and how they have adapted to meet the needs of their communities".

Among the projects included in the newseltter is Digital Maker Space, a project led by Culture Perth Kinross Libraries and funded through LEADER, which has been utilising their 3D printers to print headframes and stiffeners for the NHS. Meanwhile project 'Remake' have sewed nearly 50 sets of scrubs to date for NHS Ninewells, as well as supporting vulnerable chldren in their area with puzzles, games and art supplies.

The Atholl Centre has adapted their space to create a food bank for the local community, open 7 days a week with around 80-100 people using the service every day, as well as delivering food packages to vulnerable families in partnership with a local school.
