Open your farm gates on Open Farm Sunday

In this article, the Open Farm Sunday team at LEAF tell us why it's important for farmers to get involved and about support available to help you open your farm gates for this annual event.

The need for farmers to get public support for the vital work they do has never been more critical and LEAF Open Farm Sunday provides the ideal platform to do just this. Join hundreds of farmers across Britain and take part in the farming industry’s annual open day on Sunday 11June 2017.

Explain to visitors the work that you do and how it impacts on our lives – from providing nutritious food to managing the environment. Visitors are keen to learn about everyday farming tasks and are amazed to see the skills, technology and science behind modern farming. Even in remote rural areas you will be amazed how many people don’t fully understand the vital work farmers do.

Events can range from a private farm walk for neighbours through to a full open day. It is up to you the size and format of event you organise.

There are lots of free resources and support available to you from the organisers, LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming). All registered host farmers will receive a copy of the Host Farmer Handbook.
