Over the last year the Scottish Rural Network and the Improvement Service have been working in partnership to help build the capacity of community councils across rural and island Scotland.

As part of this programme the Scottish Rural Network, Improvement Service and Sustrans Scotland are hosting a free online webinar for rural community councillors on Cost of Living, Community and Active Travel on Tuesday 28th February from 6pm to 7:30pm. This event is for rural Community Councils; there will be a second event for urban Community Councils in March.

Sustrans Scotland provides advice, support and funding that makes it easier for people to walk and cycle for everyday journeys. In this webinar, Sustrans Scotland Communities Team bring a practical workshop examining the impact of the cost of living crisis on travel choices and behaviours. Not just as individuals, but for their communities as well.

The session will cover:

• Who is most impacted by increased travel costs.
• The implications for existing inequalities.
• Other factors that influence how people move around their local areas
• The total and real costs of different forms of transport.
• How some of these issues are being addressed by communities around Scotland
• How Sustrans can help you take action in your area.

At the session there will be plenty of opportunity for interaction through discussion and activities.

You can register for the event here and those registering will have the option to highlight any accessibility requirements which the organisers will do our best to accommodate before, during and after the session.
