An exciting opportunity to support the delivery of European funding programmes in South Aberdeenshire has arisen. The South Aberdeenshire Local Action Group has been allocated £2.8 million pounds to support bottom-up, community-led rural development and fisheries projects from now until 2020. The South Aberdeenshire Local Action Group is being part-financed by the Scottish Government and the European Community LEADER 2014-2020 programme.

Aberdeenshire Council is responsible for supporting the South Aberdeenshire Local Action Group in the management and delivery of these funds. This work is facilitated through a dedicated European Policy and Programmes Team.

The team is recruiting a European Programmes Co-ordinator who will be responsible for promoting and overseeing the delivery of LEADER funding to communities and businesses in the South Aberdeenshire area with Local Action Group partners.They will encourage and support potential project applicants; process and evaluate project applications; and provide ongoing advice to external project managers. In addition, the Co-ordinator will undertake project monitoring and evaluation; organise and undertake pre-completion visits and on-the-spot checks of projects; monitor and report on project and programme expenditure; assist with the submission of Scottish Government reports and arrange and participate in Local Action Group meetings.

The team is recruiting a European Programmes Claims Officer who will be responsible for preparing and processing accurate grant claims to an auditable standard, providing advice and guidance to external delivery partners and project managers where required. They will also maintain and produce monitoring information on project spend and outputs and provide administrative support such as minute taking and arranging meetings.

The successful candidate will hold an academic achievement to HND level in Secretarial / Office Administration or a relevant subject or equivalent transferrable experience and skills. They will also have extended experience of working in an administrative post with responsibility for financial record keeping; experience of organising and maintaining filing and records systems; proven experience of arranging meetings, preparing agendas, minutes and managing effective meetings and experience of operating payment systems. They will be customer-focussed with excellent organisational, interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills with the ability to work to tight and often conflicting deadlines and secure positive outcomes. They will have good numerical and accuracy skills, be computer literate and able to assess the accuracy and eligibility of project grant claims.

The postholder will provide economic analysis and advice to support the policy development and implementation work of NFU Scotland. The post will appeal to an economist with experience or interest in agricultural policy analysis and resource management and who is able to apply economics to practical policy issues. The post will operate within NFU Scotland’s highly respected and influential Policy Team, working directly with Policy Managers and offering support to Regional Managers.

Solway Marine Information Learning Education Project Officer - Solway Firth Partnership

Solway Firth Partnership is seeking applications for the new post of Project Officer for the SMILE (Solway Marine Information Learning Education) Project. The Project Officer will be an enthusiastic, positive and self-motivated person who will deliver the three-year SMILE project, developing and using novel methodology for engaging with the public/local communities/ ectoral groups around the Solway to both raise awareness of marine planning and to gather local knowledge and information on sectors within the Solway.

The successful candidate will have a relevant degree (or equivalent qualifications) and appropriate experience in a related field; a wide understanding of Dumfries and Galloway’s coastal/marine stakeholders; excellent organisational and communication skills; good IT skills; experience of using social media to engage with the public; and a flexible and enthusiastic approach. A full driving licence with use of a vehicle is required.

Marine Support Officers x 3 - Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC)

JNCC is seeking three Marine Support officers to support their work in the Marine Evidence Aberdeen (2 x six-month posts - Peterborough) and Marine Species (1 x permanent post in Aberdeen). 

The Marine Evidence team is the foundation of JNCC’s marine work, through the collection, management and delivery of high quality data. Work for the team covers a wide range of topics and includes organisation of offshore benthic surveys and the management of the resulting datasets, spatial mapping of benthic habitats and pressures, maintenance of national and international benthic databases and development of standards and advice in UK and international marine data and surveying.

Well-being Project Officer/Westburn Woods Project Officer - New Caledonian Woodlands

New Caledonian Woodlands are happy to accept applications for these two roles separately or combined into one full-time post.  Wellbeing Project Officer (21 hours per week), Westburn Woods Project Officer (14 hours per week), total combined 35 hours per week.
