Marketing & Communications Executive - RSABI

RSABI, the charity which provides emotional, practical and financial support to people working in Scottish agriculture, is recruiting a Marketing & Communications Executive to join its dedicated team.

The successful applicant will thrive in a small, busy team and take a lead role in driving increased awareness of the work undertaken by RSABI, as well as inspiring people to support it, joining our individual, business and corporate supporters’ schemes and through fund-raising.

Director -- Scottish Flood Forum

  • Salary £36,000 FTE

The Scottish Flood Forum are recruiting a new Director to develop and deliver their vision. This person will be an experienced people and project manager, with sound judgement, diplomacy skills and a passion for helping people.

After over five years of outstanding work, their current Director is moving to another exciting flooding role. The Scottish Flood Forum want to attract a new leader, with strong, management, advocacy and communication skills to work with our staff, Trustees and partners for the next part of the journey to make our vision a reality.

This is no ordinary or 9-5 job. Of-course you will need to be a strategic and experienced manager, ideally familiar with governmental bodies, and used to delivering good governance and compliance (finance, policies, H&S etc.) as you’ll need to ensure the charity is well run. But it’s also exciting, challenging and varied, no one day is the same as the next. You’d be working in a stimulating area, at a local and national level, with all sorts of interesting people, often in fascinating places. Occasionally there’d be weekend or evening commitments but you’re able to work properly flexible hours.

Administrative Officer - Scottish Government

  • Location: Oban
  • Salary: £19,314 - £21,482

The Scottish Government are currently seeking applications for an Administrative Officer within the Directorate for Agriculture and Rural Economy based in Oban. This is a 15-month fixed term and pensionable appointment and new entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range.

Oban Area Office is part of the Argyll and Western Isles Area, with offices in Oban, Stornoway, Benbecula and Tiree. The Area is part of Rural Payments and Inspections Division. They are responsible for the delivery of payments and grants to those involved in rural activities including farmers and crofters. They are the main point of contact for their customers and stakeholders in Argyll and have a large volume of telephone and face-to-face contact with customers.

This post sits within their front office team. This team are the first point of contact to farmers, crofters and other land managers from Argyll who visit the office in person or contact by phone or e-mail. As well as providing support to customers, you will also process applications and claims under a variety of agricultural and environmental schemes.

Administrative Officer - Scottish Government

The Scottish Government are currently seeking applications for an Administrative Officer within the Rural Payments and Inspections Division based in  Dumfries. This is a permanent and pensionable appointment and new entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range. 

The successful candidate will join the Scottish Government Rural Payments and Inspections Division (SGRPID), which is part of a network of local Area Offices which perform key roles in the work of SGRPID. Area Offices are the main contact with farmers, crofters and other interested parties, being responsible for the delivery of grants, subsidies and other Government policies to the rural community.

Plant Health Inspector -- Winter (Highland)

  • Location: Inverness
  • Daily rate of pay: £94.54/day

The Scottish Government are currently seeking applications for a Plant Health Inspector (Winter) within ARE based in Inverness. This is a temporary recurring and pensionable appointment and new entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range.

You will be a member of a team of inspectors involved in the inspection of seed potato consignments and the drawing of soil samples from fields destined for seed potato production for the purposes of potato cyst nematode detection.

Winter plant health inspectors will be expected to be generally available for work during September to April and in subsequent years but will be contacted by the local area office to work as and when the need arises according to customer demand for tuber inspection and soil sampling.

Full, comprehensive training will be given to successful candidates in the identification of potato tuber diseases, tuber inspections and soil sampling method. All inspectors have to demonstrate their competence on a regular basis to continue in employment.
