Scottish Rural Action is seeking to recruit a new Chair and new Board Directors.

Scottish Rural Action (SRA) is a grassroots-led, non-profit organisation that seeks to reduce rural inequality and to make the voice of the seldom-heard more audible. The organisation is responsible for organising the Scottish Rural Parliament event, which takes place every two years. The focus of their development activity is now on building Scotland’s rural movement.

SRA is seeking to recruit a new Chair who is passionate about rural Scotland and well connected in this context, has strong leadership skills and a track record in the management and funding of organisations. This is a high profile and important position in the rural sector in Scotland. The Chair will play a critical role in the development of SRA as an organisation and in shaping and positioning SRA in terms of the wider rural agenda, including the development of the Scottish rural movement.

At their AGM on 27 February 2020, SRA are looking to appoint up to eight new Directors. To complement the existing Directors, they are looking for one or more of the following attributes in their new Directors:

  • From a rural region of Scotland, with priority on the north of Scotland and Perthshire
  • Active in a rural development context, at local, regional or national levels
  • From one of their national partner organisations
  • Having skills in finance, rural policy or communications

The closing date to apply for the Chair and Board positions is 27 January 2020.
