12am Welcome

12:05am Kate Stephen, SRUC: Mental health in farming communities

There are always challenges in farming and farmers are used to having to cope, often by themselves. At times, it can feel overwhelming; it’s not clear what support is available and not always easy to ask for help.

The study, led by the University of Stirling and Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC), is underway to explore what kind of support farmers will find acceptable and easy to access. The research is being funded by the Chief Scientist Office (part of the Scottish Government Health Directorates).

In this session, Dr Kate Stephen a Behavioural Scientist from SRUC will describe the project, share what we have learned so far and what we hope to achieve in the next stage of the project.
