Organisations at the frontline of helping people facing poverty and hardship can now apply for a share of government funding to help tackle food insecurity.

The £1.6 million Cash-First Fund is aimed at public sector and third sector partnerships to deliver cash grants for food and other essentials, helping to reduce the need for food parcels.

Data published by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) showed the overall pass rate for National 5, Highers and Advanced Highers has increased from the 2019 pre-pandemic level, with a record number of passes in an exam year achieved at National 5.

The number of vocational and technical qualifications achieved has also grown to a record high this year – with more than 72,000 qualifications awarded in 2023, an increase of 12.3% from 2022.

Projects across Scotland have been awarded funding as part of the Scottish Government’s Digital Inclusion Programme aimed at helping people to access online support services, initially in mental health and housing services.

A new group aimed at crofters in Sutherland and Caithness has been launched by the Nature Friendly Farming Network (NFFN).

Moray Climate Assembly - A Climate Action Hub for Moray

The Scottish Government is investing £234,333 to support Moray communities to respond to the climate and nature emergency through a new climate action hub.

This is part of a network of regional climate action hubs being set up to support communities across Scotland.
