Scottish Rural & Islands Housing Conference 2018

This year’s RIHAF Conference will be in Aberdeenshire and is a must attend for rural housing association leaders and board members, as well as anyone with an interest in rural housing issues, including staff and committee members from housing providers. Hosted by Osprey Housing, Grampian Housing Association and Castlehill Housing Association, they will be discussing the key role of rural housing associations in sustaining communities, providing care and support for residents and employment opportunities for young people.

Basic Seed Production Training Day

A Basic Seed Production Training Day at Newton Dee Camphill Village near Aberdeen. The training will be delivered by Neil Munro, former head of the Heritage Seed Library and manager of the Seed Sovereignty Programme, and Maria Scholten. The training will include some basics of seed production including;

Basic seed saving: biology of seed plants
Basic genetics and number of seed plants
Isolation distances and techniques
Crop Specific roguing and selecting
Drying and Storage

Banchory Beer Festival 2018

The festival runs for 3 days at Deeside Rugby Club pitches, promising a weekend of beer, cider, gin, prosecco, Banchory’ s local rum, street food and live music. There are several bands already lined up, including The Mad Ferret Band and Sea Bass Kids, with more to be announced.
