A national network of climate action hubs is being set up to support communities to take forward climate action in their areas.

The network of regional climate action hubs will support communities to come together and engage collectively on climate action, supporting the transition to low carbon and climate resilient living and driving wider behaviour change.

The hubs will provide a coordinated and coherent approach to supporting communities  across their region, ensuring communities are informed, connected, engaged and empowered to develop and implement local solutions to create low carbon resilient places.

It follows the success of two pathfinder hubs, in the North East led by the NESCAN Hub (North East Scotland Climate Action Network and the Highlands and Islands (Orkney and Shetland) led by the Highlands and Islands Climate Action Hub.

The scheme is open to:

  • community groups
  • voluntary organisations
  • registered charities
  • social enterprises
  • community benefit societies
  • community interest companies (CICs)

A total of £4.3 million has been allocated for 2023 to 2024 to set up around 20 hubs which will contribute to a broad range of policies that work to deliver the National Outcomes set out in the National Performance Framework, supporting healthier, fairer, greener and more resilient communities across Scotland.
