Summary of Project

A co-operation project idea to promote the role of arts culture and heritage in creating new ways to sustain rural communities socially, economically and environmentally.

More information

We are a group of individuals and organisations in Eastern Perthshire, Scotland involved in a number of initiatives which seek to build on the arts, cultural and heritage assets of the area to create new ways to sustain rural communities socially, environmentally and economically. The initiatives that are either launched or in train include: Cateran's Common Wealth: Alyth Craft Tourism/ Alyth Development Trust's strategic objectives which involve taking an asset based development approach including the arts, culture and heritage assets of the town

What we are looking for in partners

We are particularly keen to partner with others who

  •  have rich arts cultural and heritage assets like ourselves
  • are taking a place based approach to social, environmental and economic development
  • are involved in thinking about or actively promoting commons based initiatives
  • are interested in creating new institutional infrastructure to support more sustainable economic practices
  • would be keen to co-produce a programme of international exchanges, peer learning opportunities and more holistic evaluation approaches

We are also keen to work with partners in Scandinavian countries.
