The Newmilns Regeneration Association had an exciting vision that promotes renewable energy, a move towards a net zero town and funding of regeneration. The NRA sought funding for a feasibility study into the Newmilns Vesuvius Energy Park Project.

The purpose of the study was to explore whether the development of a Photo Voltaic (PV) farm at the former Vesuvius Crucible Manufacturing site at Browns Street, Newmilns, is financially feasible.

The funding is part of the CLLD allocation to the Ayshire Local Action Group (LAG), a group of representatives from the local area so its decision making is bottom up.  With this funding, the LAG run the Ayrshire Rural and Islands Ambition (ARIA) Fund which is administered by South Ayrshire Council. Additionally, a Fund Co-ordinator supports the applicant through the process to assist and help with any concerns or questions.
