Last night, as part of the much anticipated NetworX conference held in Brussels, the European Commissioner Phil Hogan announced the 5 winners of the inaugural Rural Inspiration Awards.

The Scottish Rural Network would like to extend a massive congratulations to all 25 finalists, and the 5 overall winners.

The winners were:

Recognising excellence, innovation and outstanding achievement in nature conservation, the eighth annual Nature of Scotland Awards co-sponsored by Scottish Natural Heritage are open for applications until 4 June.

Moray LEADER have been enjoying the buzz around the opening of FindhornHive, a new centre for social enterprise which was one of the earliest and largest projects to be funded by the programme.

Around 70 people attended the opening of FindhornHive by local MSP and former Rural Secretary Richard Lochhead.

The new building is a social enterprise hub offering offices, hot desking and studio spaces, and demand for places is already high.

On February 27 a special Scottish parliamentary reception is taking place to celebrate the achievements of the LEADER Programme.

'LEADER, Past, Present and Future' will bring together MSPs with LEADER programme staff and funding beneficiaries, with Minister for Rural Affairs and the Natural Environment Mairi Gougeon MSP set to make a keynote speech. 

Erasmus has launched a new project, 'Visual Social Enterprise (ViSEnet)', which will share learning material, guidance and networking opportunities to promote social entrepreneurship in rural areas.

The Scottish Government’s Community Land Team are holding a series of events to promote the community right to buy legislation currently in effect.
