An initiative has launched to encourage people to help tackle litter at two national nature reserves in the North East.

The National Lottery Community Fund has launched a new £100 million Climate Action Fund.

The fund will help people and communities take the lead in tackling climate change.​

The Sea Watch Foundation is looking for wildlife enthusiasts across the UK to support this year's National Whale and Dolphin Watch (NWDW).

This year's event is taking place from Saturday 27 July to Sunday 4 August 2019. The citizen science project is now in its eighteenth year and marks the long-lasting collaboration between citizen scientists, wildlife enthusiasts, the general public and researchers.

​The Scottish Rural Awards 2020 are now open for entries and nominations in a number of categories including a new category: Best Countryside Digital Innovator. The winner of this category will be crowned for successfully championing digital projects and products across the agricultural, rural and tourism sectors in Scotland.

Proposed new Marine Protected Areas Consultation | Drop in sessions

Scottish Natural Heritage and Marine Scotland are holding a series of drop in sessions to support their consultation on four proposed new Marine Conservation Areas in Scotland.

The Scottish Government's vision is for a marine environment that is clean, healthy, safe, productive and diverse seas; managed to meet the long term needs of nature and people.

Nominations for Scotland's Tree of the Year will be accepted until 19 July 2019.

This annual competition is run by the Woodland Trust Scotland, with support from players of People's Postcode Lottery. Any organisation or individual can nominate a tree. Judges will choose finalists from the nominations which will go to a public vote later in the year.

€​470 million of Horizon 2020 funding is available for research projects on farming, food and the bioeconomy. 

Horizon 2020 is the biggest European Union Research and Innovation programme ever with nearly €80 billion of funding available over seven years (2014 to 2020) – in addition to the private investment that this money will attract.
