Scotland’s top trainees and rural learners have been named as finalists for Lantra Scotland’s Awards for Land-based and Aquaculture Skills (the ALBAS).
The talented apprentices and trainees who have made the shortlist will find out if they have won at a prestigious gala dinner and award ceremony on Thursday 3 March. Hosting the ALBAS for the evening will be farmer and stand-up comedian Jim Smith.

Funding available for private sector and third sector centres to help with running costs and enable staff to deliver more outdoor learning for schools.
The funding brings the Scottish Government’s support for the sector during the pandemic to £4.5 million.

Seafood Scotland has launched an innovation programme to stimulate new seafood tourism initiatives.
The pilot will see the trade body work with organisations to explore and support business diversification and to establish new tourism opportunities for the Scottish seafood industry.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across Scotland can access training up to the value of £5,000 provided by The Open University (OU) to support staff development.
This fund was first announced by the Scottish Government as part of the 2020-21: Phase 2 of the Flexible Workforce Development Fund (FWDF), to help SMEs address key skills gaps and develop the skills your business needs.

The Practical Training Fund, which was launched earlier this year and is administered by Lantra Scotland, has already supported more than 400 women and girls to undertake courses to develop their skillset or change careers.
