Climate Adaptation: Wellbeing Workshop

Cultivating wellbeing to foster effective action in uncertain times

Working in Scotland on climate change? Then you are invited to an afternoon of exploring how cultivating wellbeing can foster effective action in the workplace.

This session will be facilitated by Pam Candea (she/her) who has worked in the environmental sector for 17 years, with a focus on supporting individuals and groups taking action in the face of the climate and nature emergencies.

In a non-judgemental and supportive environment we will work through activities which will help you:

  • explore feelings about the climate and ecological emergencies
  • share observations, stories and solutions with others to identify and nurture the seeds of optimism and hope
  • experience techniques which will support you and your colleagues through challenging times

Toward the end of the session there will be a led activity to create a supported and realistic set of next steps for moving forward.

“It is so healthy to have these peer spaces. I often neglect my own feelings and thoughts. The guilt is huge, for not doing enough and constantly feeling like it is my responsibility to pick up the slack for others who appear not to act in any small way to reduce their impact. The techniques will definitely help.” Participant in a similar Surefoot Effect workshop

The Surefoot Effect's definition of Resilience: Resilience is not just the ability to ‘bounce back’ and keep going in a difficult situation. What’s even more important is the ability to ‘break through’, discovering new sources of inner strength and wellbeing to be better able to react to and change the situation for the better.

Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is for members of the Adaptation Scotland Programme Public Sector Climate Adaptation Network and other individuals in third sector or community organisations working on climate change issues in Scotland. There are 16 places available. Places are limited to one representative per organisation/group to allow a diverse range of participants to take part.

The Public Sector Climate Adaptation Network is a group of 50 public sector organisations in Scotland working together to benchmark their progress and identify and share learning on climate change adaptation. The Adaptation Scotland Programme is funded by the Scottish Government and delivered by sustainability charity Sniffer.
