Friday 29 September 2017 - 09:45 to 12:30
Venue:

Mining Museum, Newtongrange, EH22 4QN

Organiser:
Tyne Esk LEADER

This workshop will explore how Angus Council's Economic Development team have used the potential of crowdfunding to enable community groups and businesses to raise capital for projects in Angus’ communities. Angus Council have commissioned a bespoke portal to showcase crowdfunding campaigns and support community groups and businesses to create campaigns that are as likely to achieve the funding target as possible.

In addition to this, Angus Council also use this portal as a means of evaluating projects and distributing community grant funds and, it is hoped, further funders will use the system as well.

This event is aimed at LEADER Local Action Group members and staff who may be interested in funding a cooperation project looking to replicate, and expand on, the support service that Angus Council currently offers. The event may also be of interest to Local Authority economic development and communities teams to see how one Local Authority has engaged with communities and businesses to find an innovative solution to a lack of capital.
