During the Scottish LEADER 2016, a Cooperation Cafe session was held where participants generated and discussed ideas for potential LEADER cooperation projects.
One of these projects was a cooperation project to map strategic cycle routes and long distance paths, and the links with public transport.
The idea is for local, regional and national maps which would help to link communities and prioritise missing links. Walking and cycling provide inclusive, affordable and flexible options for those without access to cars, particularly when linked with public transport. An effective infrastructure also stimulates rural business and brings in green tourism.
