Climate Hub offers small grants to community groups

Alan Robertson

The Highlands and Islands Climate Hub is offering small grants to community groups for community engagement or seed funding for a community climate action project.

The North Highlands and Islands Community Climate Action Fund offers communities the opportunity to secure grant funding of up to £500 via an individual application or up to £1000 via a collaborative application from one or more community group. The Fund comes from the North Highlands and Islands Climate Hub and supports communities to conduct community consultation in the planning stages of a community climate action project or, to launch a new project.

The Fund is open to existing and emerging groups and support with the application process is available from one of the Hub’s dedicated Development Officers. As well as offering financial support, successful applicants will be able to utilise the Hub’s team of knowledgeable and experienced Development Officers to support the planning or execution of a project. The Development Officers can attend your planning meetings and come along to consultation events and project launches. They can even lend equipment.

Fund recipients, Culduthel Community Woods said:

“The process to apply was very easy and the service and contact from the officers was first class.”

It’s important to note that if your group has received support from the North Highlands and Islands Community Climate Action Fund previously, you’re more than welcome to apply again. Details in full and the application form can be found here.
