Community Land Week returns

Monika Reichelt

Community Land Week will return this year from the 8th to the 16th of October for the fourth Scotland-wide celebration of community landowners. Expression of interest deadline is Friday 29th July.

Any geographic community that owns land or another asset, from an estate to a woodland to a community centre, can apply to run an event as part of the week.

Community Land Week is coordinated by Community Land Scotland and the Scottish Government. The celebration first ran in 2018 when fourteen communities from across Scotland took part with events ranging from guided walks across community-owned land to ceilidhs and study visits.

In 2019, over forty events ran as a part of Community Land Week. This year, we hope even more communities will participate so that more people can find out what community landownership is all about.

All participating organisations will:

  • Be included in national Community Land Week press and web promotion
  • Receive tailored materials and a press pack
  • Be part of a national event celebrating community land ownership

Additionally, there are fifteen £300 bursaries for communities, to help contribute towards the cost of running your event. These bursaries will be distributed following the close of the Expression of Interest (Friday 29 July).

More information on bursaries and how to apply for one is found in the Community Land Week 2022 Guidance.

Communities that are interested in running an event should read the Community Land Week 2022 Guidance and submit an online Expression of Interest form by Friday 29th July.
