Reducing emissions from our buildings is one of the most challenging and important actions we can take to help end Scotland’s contribution to climate change.

Scotland’s homes and workplaces must transform so they are more comfortable, efficient, and green and so Scottish Government is consulting on proposals for Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) reform and are seeking stakeholder views ahead of the introduction of new legislation. An EPC provides basic information about the energy efficiency of a building. The assessment used to produce an EPC collects basic information about the building. This includes the floor area and construction type, and details about the heating, lighting, and ventilation systems.

Buildings in rural and island Scotland faces different challenges from those in urban environments so it is important that rural and island stakeholders take the opportunity to engage with the consultation.

The consultation includes Domestic and Non-Domestic EPC reform.
