Scottish Rural Action (SRA) - Policy and Communications Officer

The SRA Policy & Communications Officer will be responsible for supporting the work of SRA by raising awareness of our activities and influencing policy and practice. The successful candidate will be responsible for liaising with the Scottish Government at all levels and engaging and influencing external contacts and partnerships. This is a new appointment for SRA and is an important step in the next phase of their development. This position is home based and includes regular travel.

Scotland's Garden and Landscape Heritage - Contractor/Consultant

  • Location: New Lanark and Falkirk

Scotland's Garden and Landscape Heritage (SGLH) is seeking applications for a contract to initiate and manage an innovative and exciting, two-phase project. The purpose of the project is to develop for publication a Conservation Strategy and Conservation Guidance Notes for Landowners. It will cover the CAVLP and Falkirk Council areas commencing October 2017. This project represents the second stage of a pilot project ('Glorious Gardens') launched by SGLH in both areas in 2014. A key element will be the recruitment of volunteers and the provision of appropriate training to become actively involved in the development of the Conservation Strategy and the Conservation Guidance Notes for Landowners. 

Volunteers will be drawn from local stakeholders, including community councils, heritage groups, local specialists and residents within the local authority area. Funding is being provided both by Historic Environment Scotland and by the Heritage Lottery Fund through CAVLP. Phase 1 of the project will run from 1/10/17 to 31/03/18 and Phase 2 from 1/3/18 to 31/3/19.

Wester Loch Ewe Trust - Project Development Manager

  • Location: NW Highlands.  (The post-holder will be expected to attend monthly board meetings, and be working in the Gairloch area as needed)
  • Salary: £26,400 pro rata
  • Pro rata hours: 20 hours per week

Wester Loch Ewe Trust is looking for someone with real experience of steering community asset transfer to successful completion. Your aptitude, values, a knowledge of remote rural areas and a good understanding of the funding landscape is more important to us than formal qualifications. This post needs someone who can work hard alongside a proactive community to get the job done and do some working from home.

Centre Manager - Auchinleck Community Development Initiative (ACDI)

  • Salary: £15,600 based on 25 Hours (5 days over a 7 day period)
  • Location: Auchinleck Community Growing & Resource Garden, Auchinleck
  • Contract length: 17 Months (31 December 2018) subject to a 3 month probation period.

The Auchinleck Community Growing & Resource Garden is an exciting community resource based within ex-mining village of Auchinleck, East Ayrshire. Supported by Ayrshire LEADER, Big Lottery, Tesco Bags for Help, the Robertson Trust and ACDI the garden will deliver a: Sensory Garden, a Poison Garden, a living pond, a working nursery, and a BBQ and seating/community play area.

ACDI is looking to recruit a motivated individual to join our team as the garden’s Centre Manager, who will be responsible for the management and development of this new and exciting community garden.

Specifically the Centre Manager will be responsible for increasing the number and diversity of visitors to the garden, all aspects of the garden’s development, revenue generation, delivery of services, and interaction with the local communities, schools and support groups ensuring that the Auchinleck Community Growing & Resource Garden becomes a truly effective and engaging community resource.

They are looking for someone who is passionate about the empowering role that community growing can contribute to community life and resilience and who is able to communicate this to others. To meet the development and business needs of the Garden the role will involve both weekend and evening work.

A full clean UK driving licence is essential for this post.

Successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, and the satisfactory outcome of the check is a condition of employment by Auchinleck Community Development Initiative.

Ardnamurchan Parish Church - Project Manager

A Project Manager is being sought to oversee the restoration of the Ardnamurchan Parish Church building.

The Kirk Session is seeking to appoint a suitable qualified and experienced consultant to act as Project Manager for the repairs and re-ordering. This will include finding and accessing funding bodies.

The Project Manager would be responsible for liaising with architects and contractors who would, initially, assess the necessary work, and then to oversee the work to completion. There would be liaison with the Kirk Session and a named person or working group assigned to have oversight of the project.

Kelvin Valley and Falkirk LEADER - Programme Manager

You will be responsible for delivering the Local Development Strategy of the Kelvin Valley & Falkirk LEADER Programme, employed by Falkirk Council on behalf of the Falkirk and Kelvin Valley LEADER Local Action Group (LAG). This will include supporting the LAG Board, assuring regulatory compliance at Scottish and European level and managing support to applicants to, and stakeholders in, the programme fund. The post will require a specific focus on community-led rural development. Kelvin Valley and Falkirk LEADER Local Action Group is being part-financed by the Scottish Government and the European Community LEADER 2014-2020 programme. This post is temporary until January 2021 due to funding.

Kelvin Valley and Falkirk LEADER - Claims and Compliance Officer

This will include assisting applicants to the Programme to compile claims and processing these, supporting the Programme Manager to make claims to the Scottish Government and ensuring that the programme is compliant in terms of EU regulations and Scottish Government guidance. The post requires prior experience of managing external funding claims. Kelvin Valley & Falkirk LEADER LAG is being part-financed by the Scottish Government and the European Community LEADER 2014-2020 Programme. You will work 18.5 hours per week. Scottish Government - Administrative Officer

Scottish Government - Digitiser

The Scottish Government are currently seeking applications for a number of Digitiser positions within the Scottish Government, Rural Payments and Inspections Directorates’ Field Identification System Team  based in Saughton House, Edinburgh.

You will assist in the maintenance and operation of the Field Identification System and help process Land Maintenance Forms (LMF’s) sent in by farmers who are notifying the Directorate of changes to their Land Parcel boundaries and internal features, as well as land parcel inspection data and internal RPID maintenance of Land Parcels. You will work with a Geographical Information System (GIS) digitising application and the IACS claims system in order to accurately map the boundaries of Land Parcels.

Scottish Natural Heritage - Operations Officer

  • Location: Argyll and Bute - Oban, Lochgilphead or Dunoon Offices       
  • Contract end date: 31st March 2018

The post holders will contribute to the delivery of Scottish Natural Heritage’s objectives within the Argyll and Outer Hebrides Unit. One post will principally deliver within Mid-Argyll and Kintyre and the other across Cowal, West Loch Lomondside and Mull Coll and Tiree. Both will also support work in other parts of the Unit and there will be an expectation of being able to work flexibly throughout the area.

The post’s main areas of work will include the provision of advice on protected areas to local authorities, competent authorities and land managers. They will also carry out monitoring of protected areas; and advise on, and assess, agri-environment applications.

Applicants should have an HND or equivalent qualification in an environmental discipline or countryside management.  Alternatively they should be able to demonstrate qualification by practical experience of environmental or countryside management. Applicants should be familiar with the main land uses and habitat types within Argyll and Bute which contribute to the areas outstanding natural heritage. Agriculture and forestry knowledge will clearly be useful.
