SISI (Scottish Invasive Species Initiative) Volunteer and Communications Officer - The Findhorn Nairn & Lossie Fisheries Trust

The Findhorn Nairn & Lossie Fisheries Trust has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Volunteer and Communications Officer to work as part of a team for the Scottish Invasive Species Initiative (SISI). SISI is a four-year Heritage Lottery Fund and Scottish Natural Heritage funded project in northern Scotland, which aims to encourage communities to tackle invasive non-native species such as Japanese knotweed, giant hogweed and American mink.

They are looking for a dynamic professional to join our small team as a Volunteer and Communications Officer. The Volunteer and Communications Officer will be responsible to the Project Manager for the delivery of the Communication Plan and the Volunteer Management and Retention Plan. They will work closely with the SISI Project Officers and Seasonal Officers for the delivery of the required actions in those plans. They will also provide support and training for the SISI Project Officers, Seasonal Officers and in certain instances volunteers to build the capacity of the local delivery organisations and their volunteer networks to deliver and maintain the SISI outputs and outcomes.

Connecting Communities Development Manager

Support in Mind Scotland (SiMS) has been funded by the European Social Fund, through the Aspiring Communities Funding to develop a project that will engage with people in fragile rural communities to discuss mental health and wellbeing, highlighting local issues and developing possible solutions.

This work will be based on a survey into rural mental health by SiMS and Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) that highlighted the need for people to feel more connected to their communities and to each other – as well as for the need for more local resources to support people with mental health problems.

They are now seeking a Manager and four Community Workers to carry out local mapping and community engagement work in four different areas, and to produce community map that will inform future funding bids for future community development work.

Community Development Worker – Happiness Habits

This person will work with colleagues to deliver the Happiness Habits project. This is a new project which builds on an approach that was first developed with older people who came together at Happiness Habits cafes.

This project is based in rural parts of Scottish Borders.The post is funded by the Aspiring Communities Fund with support from the European Social Fund.

At this stage the project has funding until March 2019.  We may look for further funding to take forward developments from the project or extend it, in light of progress and the impact the project has.

This Development Worker post will focus on delivering the Food Buddies project in Scottish Borders and related work to improve quality of life and opportunities for older people.

This project develops peer support for people with dementia and for carers, with a focus on aspects of food and keeping well.

The post holder will be part of the small team of staff and sessional workers delivering support to individual people and to community projects across Scotland.

Soil Association Scotland - Communications Officer, Rural Innovation Support Service

Soil Association Scotland are recruiting for an experienced communications member of staff. In this new role you will help the Soil Association deliver change by being part of a new Rural Innovation Support Service. You will produce tailored communications and marketing via a range of channels to audiences (public and farmers) to increase the impact of this service.

You will play a vital role in building stakeholder support and raising awareness by finding inspirational stories to support the Rural Innovation Support Service. You’ll work directly with the Farming and Land use team and our partner organisations (SRUC, SAOS, and Scotland Food & Drink). You will build strong relationships with frontline staff to find and tell inspiring stories. And you will develop efficient processes and mechanisms to push this content out to other teams and through our channels.

Soil Association Scotland - Project Officer

East Sutherland Energy Advice Service - Project Assistant

This project is based in Bonar Bridge/Ardgay but will require travel across East Sutherland. Applicants should have an interest in energy efficiency and climate change, experience in event management and have excellent communication skills.

Southern Uplands Partnership - Where’s Wildlife in Ayrshire? Project Officer

  • £21,000 per annum

The Southern Uplands Partnership is looking for an enthusiastic individual with excellent communication and project management skills to continue delivery of the Where’s Wildlife in Ayrshire? project.

Working from an office base in Auchincruive the project aims to engage the communities of Ayrshire in learning how to identify local wildlife, run citizen science wildlife recording projects and run a series of talks about local wildlife. Key to the project success is establishing a focal point for the collation and sharing of environmental information in the region.

The contract is full time for 37 hours per week for 10 months. Part time options would be considered for suitable candidates. Subject to securing more funding the contract could be extended.

The Scottish Government are currently seeking applications for a number of Digitiser positions within the Rural Payments and Inspections Directorates’ Field Identification System Team based in Saughton House, Edinburgh. This is a permanent and Pensionable appointment and new entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range.

You will assist in the maintenance and operation of the Field Identification System and help process Land Maintenance Forms (LMF’s) sent in by farmers who are notifying the Directorate of changes to their Land Parcel boundaries and internal features, as well as land parcel inspection data and internal RPID maintenance of Land Parcels. You will work with a Geographical Information System (GIS) digitising application and the IACS claims system in order to accurately map the boundaries of Land Parcels.
