#YSHive is looking for around 20 young people to volunteer on the Young Person’s Guarantee Youth Leadership Panel.

No special knowledge, experience or skills are necessary to take part and a dedicated staff member will support you throughout your volunteering experience. It's a great opportunity to learn a range of skills, meet new people from across Scotland, take part in training, and develop confidence in yourself.

The Panel will involve a group of young people from across Scotland age 16-24, who will be involved in conversations, exploration and co-design of the Young Person’s Guarantee. The Panel will collaborate with Scottish Government, Developing the Young Workforce, Skills Development Scotland, and other organisations to explore the governance (decision-making and deciding how things are delivered) for the Young Person’s Guarantee, ensuring that young people continue to be involved, meeting the needs of Scotland’s young people.

The Young Person’s Guarantee says: “We will guarantee to every young person aged between 16 and 24 in Scotland the opportunity, based on their own personal circumstances and ambitions, of going to university or college, an apprenticeship programme, training, fair employment including work experience, or participating in a formal volunteering programme.” The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted the lives of everyone in Scotland – with young people being amongst the most affected groups.

Scottish Government’s commitment to deliver the Young Person’s Guarantee, and continuing to involve young people in the process, will help ensure Scotland’s 16-24 year olds don’t become a generation negatively defined by COVID-19.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, this project will take place online for the foreseeable future. However, if getting online is difficult, Young Scot can support you with alternative arrangements.

Supported by Young Scot staff, volunteers will meet monthly (online using Zoom) and work on remote activities to review progress, provide insight and ideas and deliver recommendations to Scottish Government about the development and implementation of the Young People’s Guarantee. Volunteers on the Panel will also have the opportunity to respond to emerging topics and issues as the programme progresses.

If you would like to be part of the Young Person’s Guarantee Leadership Panel then you can apply online or email Young Scot for a digital or word doc application form. All applications must be submitted by Sunday 29th August 2021.
