The Living Lomonds Landscape Partnership are hosting a full day celebration of learning and sharing of experience – derived from three years hard work and an inspiring collaboration around the hills from 2012 -16.

This event is aimed at: policy-makers; landscape partnerships; funding bodies; land managers; NGOs; and managers or specialist staff in education, heritage, cultural services and community development.

Purpose
To share the lessons and challenges of Living Lomonds Landscape Partnership (LLLP) with those who have an interest in enhancing people’s lives through landscape and/or transforming the way we work in partnerships. Some of the themes we will cover are:
1. The art of engagement in regenerating communities and landscapes;
2. The potential of land-based training & employment projects;
3. Creating a lasting legacy and strengthening community resilience.

09:45 Tea and coffee
10:00 Welcome and overview by Ninian Stuart (Vice-Chair of LLLP)
10:10 A series of short seminars focusing on:
1. The story of Lochore from twelfth century into the future with Ed Heather-Hayes, Dr Oliver O’Grady and Prof David Munro.
2. Revelations of Markinch with Bruce Manson & Neil Sutherland.
3. Creative ways of working with young people with Tara O’Leary
4. Revitalising the practice of rural skills with Sarah MacDonald
5. Giant hogweed – Turning a big challenge into opportunity with Ed Heather-Hayes

12:30 Lunch
13:30 A choice of outdoor learning Journeys to hear, see and learn about:
1. The archaeology of East Lomond hill fort and the commonty of the Lomonds.
2. The work of Markinch Heritage Group in the ancient parish of Markinch including the twelfth century St Drostans church.
3. Exploring the history of the hills through place-names with Dr Simon Taylor.
4. Engaging, inspiring and resourcing young people to understand and carve out their own futures in a landscape.
5. Exploring the knowns and unknowns about Falkland Estate’s Temple of Decision – past, present and future

15:30 Refreshments in Markinch Church Hall
16:00 Final Celebration with Dame Seona Reid (Chair of HLF, Scotland Committee)
17:30 Finish

Note
The afternoon learning journeys will be outside, so please bring appropriate clothing and footwear for off-road walking in Scotland in March!
