A £25 million fund to improve ventilation in business premises and reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission will open for applications next week.

Small and medium-sized businesses such as restaurants, bars and gyms will be able to claim back costs of up to £2,500 to undertake work such as the installation of carbon dioxide monitors and remedial improvement work to windows and vents.

Improved controls on the storage and application of slurry and digestate.

Amendments have been made to the Water Environment (Controlled Activities) (Scotland) Regulations 2011. These include improving controls on the storage of slurry and digestate to reduce leakage, and more targeted spreading to maximise the nutrient benefit and reduce emissions.

Legislation has been laid that will see Scotland ban some of the most environmentally damaging single-use plastic items, with the ban coming into effect on 1 June 2022.

Seven towns have been chosen to help tackle the impact of climate change and secure a just transition to net zero.

Principles of Place, Resilience and Nature Conservancy

In this workshop, participants will learn about tools that foster resilience in places and also apply them to the conservation of nature.

This workshop will be divided into two sessions, running on November 22 and 29, from 2-5pm. Participants are encouraged to sign up for both sessions.

This workshop is about fostering resilience for a flourishing life, community, and the places where we live and enjoy. In these 2 sessions, participants will learn about resilience tools such as:

£55 million for nature restoration and biodiversity projects.

Projects that restore nature and tackle the causes of biodiversity loss will benefit from a share of at least £13.5 million annually through a Scottish Government fund set up following agreement with the Scottish Green Party.

The Nature Restoration Fund will fund projects that address the biodiversity and climate crisis by putting Scotland's species, woodlands, rivers and seas back on the road to recovery.

Following confirmation of avian influenza (H5N1) among a flock of kept birds in the Angus constituency, laboratory results have identified the strain as highly pathogenic in poultry.
