The Scottish NEFERTITI Hub is excited to invite young people and new entrants to farming to an in-person, on-farm demonstration event at Glensaugh Farm, near Fettercairn on Thursday 25th August 2022, 10:30-3:00pm.

Demand for Carbon Audits by farmers and crofters in the first six months of the year has exceeded the number of completed audits undertaken over the whole of last year. 

Carbon Audits will be now be provided through the National Test Programme.

The Need for Change – published by the Nature Friendly Farming Network – is a new report examining why food system change is needed to support the transition to nature-friendly farming.

Walking and Talking trees with Andrew Adamson of Netherurd Home Farm

On farm Andrew Adamson will introduce us to Netherurd Home Farm. Talk about how he has integrated trees into his farming business over a number of years; providing shelter for stock and crops along with an alternative income stream. He'll discuss the initial thought processes, the decision to plant trees, objectives, challenges and benefits and why he is planning to plant more trees. There will also be a speaker from Scottish Forestry joining them to discuss funding and steps to woodland creation.

Farm Safety Foundation - Yellow Wellies, have been leading on another (tenth!) annual Farm Safety Week between 18th and 22nd July, raising awareness about safe farming practices.

Land Reform in a Net Zero Nation: online public meeting

Come along to the online public meeting to learn more about the Scottish Government's proposals for the Bill. Ms Mairi McAllan, the Minister for Environment and Land Reform, and Ms Slater, the Minister for Green Skills, Circular Economy and Biodiversity, will be talking at the event along with Scottish Government officials.

All are welcome to ask questions, raise issues, and contribute to the discussion.

Community Land Week will return this year from the 8th to the 16th of October for the fourth Scotland-wide celebration of community landowners. Expression of interest deadline is Friday 29th July.

Any geographic community that owns land or another asset, from an estate to a woodland to a community centre, can apply to run an event as part of the week.

A state-of-the-art shed which will use cattle waste products to power a methane capturing system and grow indoor crops has received nearly £3 million from the UK Government through its Net Zero Innovation Portfolio (NZIP).
