Foundation Scotland has established a flood recovery appeal fund to help support those affected by the recent flooding across Scotland.

The Flood Appeal will support individuals who have been affected, with grants of up to £1,000.

Community groups or charities who are supporting those who have been affected by the floods, or who have been affected themselves, can apply for grants of up to £5,000.

Land Reform Minister, Dr Aileen McLeod has announced that 52 communities have now been awarded a share of £9 million from the Scottish Land Fund.  

Over 500,000 acres of land in Scotland is now in community ownership - with over 90,000 acres of this having received support through the Scottish Land Fund.

North East Scotland Fisheries Fund launch

Following an allocation of £1.437 million of funding from the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) and Scottish Government, NESFLAG will hold a launch event to provide information on available funding to stakeholders.

Attendance is free, but participants are required to register via Eventbrite (link below).

An event in Peterhead will be a chance to find out more about funding available from the North East Scotland Fisheries Local Group (NESFLAG).

Following an allocation of funding of £1.437 million from the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund and Scottish Government, the North East Scotland Fisheries Local Action Group (NESFLAG) will hold a launch event in Peterhead on Monday 7 March 2016. 

Rural Affairs Secretary Richard Lochhead has announced that five projects will receive a share of £2 million from the Knowledge Transfer and Innovation Fund (KTIF).

The projects will promote skills development, knowledge transfer and deliver on-the-ground improvements to the farming sector in Scotland.

Grants will be awarded to the following projects:

Make it Happen: Introduction to fundraising from private sources (Argyll & Bute)

This one-day course will raise awareness of the various funding sources available to heritage organisations and projects. It will help you target the private sources of funding best suited to the work you want to do and outline the best practice methods of approach.

The training covers:
– Individual Giving
– Developing your Case for Support
– The Seven Steps of fundraising
– Making the Ask
– How to say ‘Thank you’
– A look at resources, tools and techniques

The new LEADER programme for the Angus area was launched at the impressive and packed Eassie and Nevay Hall, Balkeerie on Wednesday 3 February 2016.

Local Action Group chair Gill Lawrie started by introducing the eleven Georgian visitors from the Borjormi area of Georgia who are visiting Angus to better understand rural development and how it can be translated to their own country, and in particular LEADER. She then went on to highlight how £2 million of funding will be used to boost communities in rural Angus.

Over 40 community organisations will receive a share of £2.5 million from the Scottish Government's Strengthening Communities Programme.

The Strengthening Communities Programme (SCP) will provide investment to community organisations from the Highlands to the Scottish Borders that are transforming disused properties and setting up enterprises in their areas.

Paths for All is offering grants of up to £1,500 to help community groups improve, maintain and promote their local community paths.
