A new £25 million fund to provide affordable housing in rural areas has been launched by the Scottish Government.

The Rural Housing Fund will provide an estimated 500 new affordable homes in rural Scotland over the next three years by helping with the building of new homes and the refurbishment of existing buildings.

The 2016 Scottish Charity Awards are now open for entries in seven categories.

The annual Scottish Charity Awards are run by the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) and celebrate the achievements of the third sector. 

Environment Minister Aileen McLeod has announced an increase in the level of grant support available through the Croft House Grant Scheme.

The Croft House Grant Scheme (CHGS) provides grants for crofters to improve and maintain the standards of crofter housing, with the aim of attracting and retaining people within the crofting areas of Scotland.

The Gathering 2016

The Gathering is Scotland’s largest event for charities, social enterprises and voluntary organisations. It’s free and everyone’s welcome.

Organised every year by SCVO, it’s a place for people working in the third sector to network, showcase what they do and learn from each other. It’s also a great opportunity for anyone who is interested in finding out more about the third sector to come along and get involved. There’s a bustling exhibition and marketplace with over 100 exhibitors, and a packed programme featuring more than 60 workshops, seminars and training sessions.

Rural Housing annual conference: Strengthening communities

Rural Housing Service are delighted to announce the programme for the 2016 Rural Housing Scotland Annual Conference.

Their main speaker is Margaret Burgess MSP, Minster for Housing & Welfare who will discuss the forthcoming Rural Housing Fund, the Scottish Government’s proposals for affordable housing and the impact of the Land Reform Bill on rural housing opportunities and community empowerment.

Views are being sought on the future direction of the Cairngorm and Glenmore area of the Cairngorms National Park.

A 14-week public consultation has launched with the aim of developing a long-term strategy for the management of the publicly-owned land in this area.
