Community Partnership - Community Action Plan Support Worker

  • £19,000 – £20,000. pro rata
  • 15 hours per week (.4fte) fixed term until March 2017

The Community Partnership is seeking to appoint a part-time Community Action Plan Support Worker to aid the community action planning process in the communities of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.

The CAP Support Worker will work with communities to help them through the community action planning process. This will include:

  • Developing appropriate methods of community consultation
  • Helping communities set up and maintain local groups and organisations to support the action planning process
  • Providing appropriate support and training to locally relevant individuals and groups
  • Helping guide CAP development and implementation at a local level

Cairngorms LEADER Manager

  • Full time (37.5 hours/week); fixed term for 3 years

The Cairngorms National Park Authority is looking for a Manager to lead a busy team supporting the Cairngorms Local Action Group (CLAG) in its management of a European and Scottish Government LEADER grant allocation. This includes delivering efficient and robust processes to support project applications and grant awards. The CLAG has incorporated as a charitable organisation, operating as the Cairngorms Trust, and you will also be responsible for supporting the operation and administration of the charity.

Press and Admin Officer - Scottish Rural Parliament

The successful candidate needs to be based in their office on the Isle of Bute and meet the eligibility criteria for a Community Jobs Scotland position.

Scottish Rural Action (SRA) manages the Scottish Rural Parliament and seeks to be a powerful voice for rural Scotland. The next Scottish Rural Parliament takes place in Brechin, Angus from 6 to 8 October 2016.

Wild Film Festival Events Manager - Southern Uplands Partnership

  • Salary: £10,000
  • Fixed term: August 2016 – April 2017
  • Two/three days per week

The Southern Uplands Partnership are looking for an experienced self-employed Events Manager to lead on the inaugural Wild Film Festival which will take place from 24 to 26 March 2017 in Dumfries. It will be a weekend of celebration of the natural world through film, inspirational speakers and workshops. To the best of their knowledge this will be a unique event being the only Wild Film Festival taking place in the UK. The event will be one of Dumfries and Galloways major events for 2017, achieving regional if not national significance.

They are looking for someone who has experience of managing major events, marketing, partnership working and budget management. You’ll need to be prepared to share your expertise by leading and mentoring a small team of young interns who you’ll recruit to help in the successful delivery of the Wild Film Festival. You’ll also play a key role in working with partners to engage young people from across the region in making and presenting their own wildlife films to be screened at the festival.

Where’s Wildlife in Ayrshire Project Officer - Southern Uplands Partnership

  • Salary: £21,000 per annum

The Southern Uplands Partnership is looking for an enthusiastic individual with excellent communication and project management skills to deliver the Where’s Wildlife in Ayrshire project.

Working from an office base in Auchincruive the project aims to engage the communities of Ayrshire in learning how to identify local wildlife, run citizen science wildlife recording projects and run a series of talks about local wildlife. Key to the project will be establishing a focal point for the collation and sharing of environmental information in the region.

You will need to have a good knowledge of local/UK wildlife and the ability to identify at least one taxonomic group of plants or animals to a level where you would be confident to teach others to identify some of the more familiar species. Experience in wildlife recording and working with local amateur recorders or the general public is highly desirable.

You will need to be able to work independently organising your work programme and should have some experience of organising and running events and giving talks or presentations. Previous experience of working with or supervising volunteers would be desirable.

You will also need to be computer literate and have access to your own vehicle.

The contract is for 37 hours per week for two years. Subject to the success of the project and availability of future funding the contract could be extended.

Following reorganisation of Scottish Land & Estates' policy team, they have two exciting new vacancies for those seeking a rewarding career at the forefront of rural policy development. 

Scottish Land & Estates is a membership organisation that represents the interests of rural landowners and landbased businesses across Scotland. The Policy Officers will be required to identify and develop key policy and regulatory challenges and opportunities for the rural sector, produce policy briefings and technical guidance, provide advice to the membership and generally take the lead on policy areas within their remit. The role will also involve considerable engagement with a wide range of stakeholders as well as representational activity.

 Starting salary will be £25,000 and will be offered alongside a generous holiday entitlement and a contributory pension.

Senior Youth Worker - Woolfords, Auchengray and Tarbrax Improvement Foundation (WAT IF?)

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an energetic and enthusiastic Senior Youth Worker to engage proactively with children and young people in this rural community. The project aims to facilitate the personal, social and educational development of our children and young people. You will be tasked with initiating, planning and delivering a new youth work project in their area.

WAT IF? is a development trust working in and around the rural villages of Woolfords, Auchengray and Tarbrax. They lead and fund projects to promote and develop their local area, working with local volunteers, to meet the needs of their community.

Easter Bush Estate - Business Improvement District (BID) Project Coordinator

  • Salary: £20 per hour (inclusive)
  • Initially 16 hours per week
  • Fixed term: Six months

Midlothian Council has been awarded funding by the Scottish Government to develop a Business Improvement District (BID) within The Easter Bush Estate, Midlothian. An individual experienced in developing BIDs or providing direct support and/or services to business users is sought to fill this post.

The Easter Bush Estate includes the principal sites in Midlothian with an active or planned role within the biotechnology sector and with the highest concentration of Animal Science in Europe. These sites; including Bush Estate/Technopole, Easter Bush Campus of the University of Edinburgh, Pentlands Science Park, Edinburgh Bio-campus and Roslin BioCentre are concentrated to the north and west of the village of Roslin and adjacent to the village of Bilston a few kilometres south of Edinburgh.

You will lead a major consultation exercise to establish the issues, concerns and priorities of businesses. At the end of the six month period you will make a recommendation on whether to proceed to BID ballot stage.
