The food and drink sector is a vital apart of the Scottish economy, with many of these businesses based across rural and island Scotland.

This case study film features three community groups from across rural and island Scotland and demonstrates how each group has managed to support development of food and drink projects utilising Community Led Local Development (CLLD) funding, part of the Scottish Government’s Rural Development Programme.

  • Abundant Borders – grant of £14,750 to set up a local Good Food Partnership , consult communities and produce a series of podcasts
  • Macauley College C.I.C. – grant of £15,344 to purchase and install a new polycrub and fencing to support their growing social enterprise
  • Propagate – grant of £10,475 to produce a short film and associated learning resources exploring regenerative farming and sustainable food systems

CLLD is a Scottish Government fund and is a part of its Scottish Rural Delivery Programme (SRDP).

It gives local communities the power to tackle their own, local challenges. By building knowledge and skills, supporting new ideas and encouraging cooperation, CLLD helps to create viable and resilient communities.
