Community Led Local Development funding helped Avoch Community Rowing Club establish a fit for purpose boat house.

Avoch Community Rowing Club are a community based rowing club on The Black Isle.

They have built and race their St. Ayles Skiff’s  ‘ZULU’  and ‘ZEPHYR’ in regattas throughout Britain and are currently preparing for next years World Championships on Strangford Lough in Northern Ireland.

The Club received Community Led Local Development (CLLD) funding of £78,460 towards the cost of a new boat shed, which allowed the club to conduct maintenance of their boats during the winter months and which also provides a social space for the community.

The Club are also in discussions with their local Men’s Shed to identify how both groups can share resources and skills, including use of the boat house.

Funding

The group applied for funding through their Local Action Group (LAG), one of the twenty which distributes the Scottish Government CLLD fund across rural and island Scotland.
