Scotland is transitioning to net zero emissions for the benefit of our environment, our people, and our prosperity. Local communities are key to this transition, embracing new ways of service provision, raising awareness of impacts and promoting positive changes.

This case study film features three community groups from across rural and island Scotland and shows how each group is undertaking Net Zero and Climate Action projects utilising Community Led Local Development (CLLD) funding, part of the Scottish Government’s Rural Development Programme.

  • Arran Eco Savvy – Grant of £70,000 to support their zero waste cafe and domestic energy projects
  • Ullapool Sea Savers – Grant of £5,000 to undertake essential maintenance of their accessible boat and to expand their communications
  • Loch Ken Trust – Grant of £23,244 to undertake a Baseline Ecosystem Assessment with local partners and develop educational materials for the local community

CLLD is a Scottish Government fund and is a part of its Scottish Rural Delivery Programme (SRDP).

It gives local communities the power to tackle their own, local challenges. By building knowledge and skills, supporting new ideas and encouraging cooperation, CLLD helps to create viable and resilient communities.

With thanks to Inspiring Scotland for producing such a fantastic film.
