This case study looks at how Community Led Local Development helped to build community resilience across South Ayrshire

Organisation name: Carrick Resilience Team

Funding received: £28,585 from Scottish Government funding (distributed by ARIA Local Action Group)

Date awarded: 03/2025

Location: Carrick, South Ayrshire

When communities across Scotland experience disruptions like severe weather incidents, they develop unique resources and strengths to get through.

This case study film features Carrick Resilience Team who received a grant of £28,585 to purchase an off-road truck to support their volunteer-led rescue service.

Community First Responders, the Team has been a vital part of the South Ayrshire community since its establishment in 2019. Comprised of 20 dedicated volunteers from all walks of life who live across the Carrick area, the team exists to provide vital logistical and welfare support to both the general public and core emergency responders during times of need.

The new equipment is already proving its worth in real situations across Carrick. The team assisted the Scottish Ambulance Service as part of a multi-agency response to individuals injured on a cliff side path.

The funding was provided through Community Led Local Development (CLLD), part of the Scottish Government’s Rural Development Programme and allocated though the Ayrshire Rural and Islands Ambition (ARIA) fund distributed by ARIA Local Action Group (LAG).

Thanks to Inspiring Scotland for producing such a fantastic film.
