The rise in the use of AI across sectors has also given rise to ethical dilemmas surrounding the technologies, such as bias and discrimination, lack of transparency, privacy concerns, potential job displacement, and the spread of misinformation.
But what does AI technology mean for the community/climate sector?
How can we act according to our ethics and stay informed, or risk being marginalised?
In this session, we will welcome two guest organisations who will respond to these questions from their experience with AI technology and working with communities and/or the climate sector.
CodeBase’s Green Tech Futures project explores how emerging technologies, including AI, can support community-led climate action while critically examining the ethical challenges they introduce. By fostering collaboration between technologists, local organisations, and climate activists, the initiative aims to develop sustainable, inclusive solutions that prioritise people and the planet. At the heart of Green Tech Futures is a commitment to transparency, accountability, and equitable innovation, raising essential questions about who benefits from AI, who is left out, and how we can build tech ecosystems that serve the common good.
