Ayrshire Women in Agriculture are hosting a meeting about an update in animal health and handling at Girtridge beef and sheep farm, Dundonald.

Their guest speakers will include Girtridge’s farm vet who will discuss the latest on animal health for cattle and sheep including bluetongue, Schmallenberg and other topical animal health challenges as well as discussing new methods for lamb tail docking and castration.

This will then be followed by a talk from Scot EID’s Dave Kerr who will be talking about the upcoming transition to UHF cattle tags as well as demonstrating the benefits of EID linked equipment.

Join Ayrshire Women in Agriculture at Girtridge for an update on all things health and handling.

Lunch will be provided making this a great opportunity to learn from industry professionals as well as networking with fellow women in agriculture.

The Farm Advisory Service has been running Women in Agriculture events since 2017, following the publication of the “Women in Farming and the Agriculture Sector” report by the Scottish Government.

The discussion groups and the Facebook group are open to all women working in Scottish agriculture, from those with daily involvement in a farm business, to those who are just starting out and interested in finding out more about farming.
