Energy Action Scotland Annual Conference 2026

Attendees are invited to join industry experts, policymakers, and stakeholders for dinner and the sixth annual Fuel Poverty Awards. The event will bring together leading voices from across the sector to explore how Scotland can ensure that fuel-poor and vulnerable households remain at the centre of policymaking as energy prices continue to rise.

Sessions include:

• A Fairer Future for Households with Essential Medical Needs and Disability. Long time campaigner, Carolynne Hunter leads the panel as we discuss the reality of unaffordable energy for people with essential medical needs, higher energy requirements and wholly inadequate levels of income and support
• Energy Debt: Consumers in Crisis. Our expert panel will be covering the reality faced by the households most affected by UK consumer energy debt of £5billion. We will hear what that means for families today and what the future holds as this debt continues to grow without government intervention.
• Ministerial Session with, Stephen Gethins MSP, Minister for Europe, External Affairs and Energy with Ross Armstrong, Chief Executive of Warmworks and member of the UK Government’s Committee on Fuel Poverty.
• Not One Scotland: The Rural Implementation Gap. Our speakers will scrutinise the challenges faced by remote and rural households who face the highest energy bills in the UK with the fewest energy choices

As well as the plenary sessions, delegates will have the opportunity to attend and participate in two of the following three breakout sessions. Delegates will hear from and interact with experts in facilitated workshops to help identify ideas, and good practice to inform the development of policy to help eliminate fuel poverty:

Breakout 1: Experts in social research, retrofit and public policy share the findings and SROI outcomes of Warmworks new research: Creating Value and Warming Homes

Breakout 2: Professor John McKendrick from Glasgow Caledonian University’s Scottish Health Equity Research Unit joins fuel poverty campaigner, Ann Loughrey for a fireside chat to discuss the publication of ‘Poverty in Scotland’

Breakout 3:  Join colleagues from across Scotland to hear more about the innovation taking place in collaborative partnerships working with minority ethnic groups for better outcomes in Scotland’s communities
